Brain Breaks: 3MAR25 - 7MAR25

Brain Breaks -  Monday

Stand up if ...

  • You have ever finished a puzzle

  • You have ridden a bike

Would you rather …

  • Watch a spider spin a web or an ant build a nest?

  • Watch the new every night, or not be able to watch it at all?

Game: Musical Chairs

We’re going to play a game called Musical Chairs. Here’s how it works: We’ll set up a circle of chairs, with one less chair than the number of players. When the music starts, everyone will walk around the chairs. As soon as the music stops, you must quickly find a seat. The player left standing is out for the next round. Then we remove one chair and start again. The game continues until only one player is left sitting. Remember, keep moving while the music plays and be ready to grab a seat when it stops!

Brain Breaks - Tuesday

Stand up if ...

  • You have started a camp fire or wood fire

  • You have a favourite board/card game

Would you rather …

  • Be known for being funny or being a good person?

  • Listen only to the start, middle or end of a song?

Activity: Box Breathing Challenge

We’re going to do some Box Breathing. Here’s how it works: We’ll all follow a simple breathing pattern together—inhale for four seconds, hold for four seconds, exhale for four seconds, and hold again for four seconds before repeating. Imagine tracing the sides of a box with your breath—each step is one side of the box. We’ll do this a few times, and then we’ll see who can keep their breathing the smoothest and most controlled. Stay focused, stay relaxed, and let’s see how calm and steady we can be! If at any point you feel lightheaded or uncomfortable, just return to your normal breathing.

Brain Breaks - Wednesday

Stand up if ...

  • You have your own vegetable garden

  • You would like to live overseas in the future

Would you rather …

  • Know the definition of all the worlds in the dictionary, or read people's thoughts?

  • The world be completely fair, or as it is?

Game: Express Yourself

We’re going to play a game called Express Yourself. Here’s how it works: I’ll say a phrase, and your job is to react with a facial expression that matches the situation. For example, if I say, “You are going on an overseas holiday,” you might show excitement. Each time I give a new phrase, quickly show the expression that fits. Pay attention and be creative—let’s see who can be the most expressive!

  • You just won the lottery

  • You will need to stay back to finish this assignment

  • Your cat just died

  • OMG, why did you just do that

  • Ok, that looks more like a waterfall to me…

Brain Breaks - Thursday

Stand up if ...

  • You like ball sports

  • You scored a winning goal or shot

Would you rather …

  • Be able to sing, dance or play an instrument really well?

  • The world was made from butter, plastic, cheese chocolate?

Game: Focus Challenge

We’re going to play a game called Focus Challenge. Here’s how it works: You’ll watch a short video of people passing a basketball. Your task is to count how many times the players in white shirts pass the ball. Stay focused and try not to get distracted. Once the video ends, I’ll ask how many passes you counted.

Brain Breaks - Friday

Stand up if ...

  • You are scared of heights

  • You are scared of aeroplane flying

Would you rather …

  • A fan or an air-conditioned for summer?

  • Know the truth of things but never be able to convince someone of it or know what you know but be able to convince anyone on anything

Game: One Song Forever

We’re going to play a game called One Song Forever. Here’s how it works: In groups of two to four, discuss the question, “If you had to listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?” Each person shares their choice and explains why they picked it. Compare answers, debate your choices, and see if anyone else agrees—or completely disagrees!
